We are like most people who like birds!

We are fortunate that where we live there is certainly no shortage of birds of all shapes and sizes that frequent our yard and the surrounding area. We have lots of permanent daily visitors like cardinals, bluebirds, robins, all kinds of sparrows, most every kind of woodpecker, noisy blue jays, nuthatches and goldfinches. 

We've also had hummingbirds yearly since we moved here but so far this year...they haven't come back (booo!) The photo above is 3 paintings from last year of tropical hummingbirds.

 Most days we can hear a barred owl hooting in the woods across the street, but we have yet to see it. And we do have both red tail and coopers hawks all around us too.

We see crows and Ravens often and an occasional eagle high in the sky. Lately, we seem to have a great blue heron flying over the house on the way to somewhere most mornings.

We've also seen indigo buntings, lots of juncos, all kinds of sparrows, towhees, flickers and orioles. 

That said.... I've always painted birds! This year they seem to be very popular so I've focused on them a bit (I've done 23 so far!) 

And people love them!

Hi All!,

It's been an active and busy Winter so far and Spring is already here. We have fit in a trip to Florida for 11 days, hiking over 120 miles combined toward our goal of 400 this year (and taking lots of reference photos!). So far this year I've managed to complete 16 paintings ranging in size from 5" x 7" (a commission) to my recently completed Vermont Barn which is 30' x 24". I currently have paintings in 3 locations and have been lining up events and shows for the year.

Here's my tentative event/exhibit schedule!

Now through June 2 I have 12 paintings at Evening Sky Brewing in Burlington, CT.

Now through June I have at least 4 paintings at the Crescent Gallery in Thomaston, CT (open Thursdays only 10-1)

April 29/30 I was invited to show my work at the Spring Whiting Mills art event in Winsted, CT DONE-thanks for coming!

May 6 I will be at Powder Ridge Ski Area in Middlefield for their Spring Market Day DONE-thanks for coming!

May 7 I will have my full tent set up at Evening Sky Brewing for their pre-mother's day event. DONE-thanks for coming!

May 13/14 I'll be at the Milford Artisan Market on the green in Milford, CT. DONE-thanks for coming!

June 3/4 I'll be in Litchfield at the Litchfield Spring Art Festival in Litchfield, CT 

June 24 I'll be in Clinton, CT Clinton Arts Council

July 8 I'll be participating in the Windsor Monarch Festival 

July 29 I'll be at the New Milford Art Festival on the green in New Milford, CT

July (the whole month) I'll have the entire upstairs event room at Counterweight Brewing in Cheshire to show my work

August 19 I'll be in Torrington, CT for the NWCT Art event (details to follow)

August 26 I'll be returning to Southbury for the Art's and Eat's Festival

August 27 I'll be returning to the 3rd Annual Recovery Festival in New Milford, CT

September (the whole month) I'll be at Luppoleto Brewing in Windsor Locks, CT

September (the whole month) I'll have a solo show at the Woodbury Library in Woodbury, CT

September 9/10 I'll be in West Hartford 3rd Annual Art League show

September 23/24 I'll be returning to the Newtown Art's Festival in Newtown, CT

October 7 I'll be at the Old Wethersfield Art Show in Wethersfield, CT

October (the whole month) I'll be at Stafford Cidery in Stafford, CT

October and November (the whole month) I'll be at Little House Brewing in Chester CT

Art looks SOOO much better in person vs what you see in photos. Details are sharper, colors are more vibrant and you can see and appreciate the subtlety's so much better. It's so rewarding to make people happy with my art!

As a young artist several famous artists were very influential in my style and choices of subjects. And...they couldn't have been more different!

Hiking has always been part of my life.

I've been busy painting, marketing, posting on social media and doing all the other things I love to do like hiking, playing with the grandkids, visiting our favorite restaurants and breweries and even traveling out of state a few times to visit friends but the summer Art show schedule keeps pulling me back!
